This site helps people find Scout units, offices, heritage sites, camp sites and event venues on a map. We collect as little personal data as possible, and only what the features below genuinely require. This site may display advertising or sponsored content to support its operation. We do not sell your personal data or use tracking cookies. If advertising features involve additional data processing, we will update this policy and provide appropriate notice where required.
This service, the “Site”, is operated by the Scout Tour Assistant administrator, the “Operator”. For any privacy request, contact [email protected].
We only process personal data in the specific situations listed here. If you simply browse the map, we do not ask for or store any personal information about you.
| Data | When & why | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Comments — your nickname (optional), comment text, optional image | Only when you post a comment on a place. Stored and shown publicly so others can read the discussion. | Your consent |
| IP address | May be technically recorded when you post a comment or suggest a place, to prevent spam and abuse. It is not displayed publicly and is handled only for limited security and operational purposes when necessary. | Consent and legitimate interest, abuse prevention |
| Place suggestions — reporter name, affiliation, and the place details you enter | Only when you use “Suggest a place / report a location”. Used to review and, if approved, publish the place. Reporter name and affiliation are kept for moderation and are not shown on the public place card. | Your consent |
| Approximate location, “Near me” | If you tap “Near me”, your browser’s geolocation is used inside your browser to sort places by distance. It is not sent to or stored on our servers. | Your consent, device permission |
| Visitor count | A single aggregate number of visits is incremented, at most once per browser per day. It contains no identifying information and is not linked to you. | Legitimate interest, basic statistics |
We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. The Site uses your browser’s local storage only for functional preferences — for example, remembering your chosen nickname, your filters, and a “visited today” flag for the visitor count. This information stays in your browser and is not transmitted to us.
When you search for an address in the suggestion form, the text you type is sent to the OpenStreetMap Nominatim service to look up coordinates. Please avoid entering personal information in that field.
The Site may display advertising or sponsored content to support its operation. Advertising content may be provided directly by the Operator or through third-party advertising or sponsorship partners.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not use tracking cookies. If any advertising or sponsorship feature requires additional personal data processing beyond what is described in this policy, we will update this policy and provide appropriate notice where required.
To run the Site, we rely on a small number of providers who may process technical data, such as your IP address, as part of delivering content:
These providers receive your IP address because your browser connects to them to load resources. We do not intentionally share comment or suggestion content with them, except where technically necessary to operate the Site or where required by law.
You may ask us to access, correct, or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, or to withdraw consent at any time. In particular, you can ask us to remove a comment you posted, the “right to be forgotten”; the administrator can delete a comment together with its replies.
To make a request, contact [email protected]. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
The Site is intended for general use and is not directed at collecting personal data from children. Please do not post comments containing personal details about children or others without their consent.
We may update this policy as the Site evolves. The “last updated” date above shows when it last changed.
